Front End Web Developer (Entry Level)
Contract length: Full Time, Part Time or Contractor
Location: Southampton, UK (with remote options)
Salary: Based on experience
We’re looking for a Front End Web Developer to work on Vimsy, a web-based product from Southpoint Films, which is an online service that lets customers create their own web portal for sharing large libraries of video content.
Think of Vimsy as a platform that lets businesses create their own corporate equivalent of Netflix or Amazon Prime – complete with the ability to sell content on a one-off or subscription basis. You can see it in action at vimsy.co
As a Front End Web Developer you’ll be tasked with working on Vimsy’s user interface and on the Vimsy sales website in co-ordination with the web development agency who develop the functional aspects of the Vimsy product. You might also be asked to work on other web-based projects for Southpoint Films and our customers if there is the requirement.
There is also scope for an ambitious individual to take on responsibility for other areas of the product and gain experience in back end development, systems administration, building native apps, and more – although all of this is optional.
Vimsy is currently home to over 1,000 different video channels and has over 10,000 registered members who use the product. We’re looking for someone who is excited by the possibility of having their work seen and used by a growing customer base and making a real difference to how these people share and consume video content online.
We’re open to applications from individuals of all skill levels and experiences, although we believe this role would be ideal for a recent graduate or a competent student looking for part time work around their studies. The main thing is that we’re looking for somebody who sees potential in the product, who wants to contribute to building top-class software, and sees themselves and their abilities growing alongside the product’s success.
- Proficiency with HTML and CSS
- Experience with Git based development environments
- Familiarity with Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or equivalent
- Experience building on template and plug-in based CMS platforms such as WordPress (Note: Vimsy is not built on WordPress)
