The London Football Awards is an annual charity event celebrating the best of London football. Typically held at the Camden Roundhouse, they’re a high profile affair. You’ll often spot well known names and faces from the world of football in attendance.
But, as we all know, 2021 was not a typical year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the LFAs had to be held online, which was quite the departure from the usual format.
When we were asked by the Willow Foundation (the event organiser) to help with the 2021 event, the brief was to capture the spirit of the physical event in a virtual format. No mean feat for such a prestigious event!
Fortunately, we were already familiar with the LFAs. In 2020, we produced a highlights video of the London Football Awards on behalf of our client Zest4.tv. We knew what we had to replicate virtually.
For this event, we handled the overall production of the show. This involved filming hosts Harry Pinero, Alex Scott and Bob Wilson at a green screen studio in London. We also captured a session with ska pop legends Madness.
And we edited the show. This involved pulling in the awesome motion graphic content (all of the branding) supplied by Jump, content packages provided by Sky, the FA and Premier League, and pre-recorded videos from football stars like Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.
Although the show was pre-recorded, it was broadcast live on the 27th April 2021 via YouTube. The live broadcast syndication was handled by Push Live, who also fed sections of the show to different news outlets and football clubs. This enabled publications and clubs to share individual clips of winners that were relevant to their respective audiences. Overall, the show was a fantastic success.
