Sound Level Events – Aerial Videos & Photos Of Outdoor Gig
In June 2020, Sound Level Events commissioned us to capture aerial footage of the first gig following the UK’s coronavirus lockdown. Hosted at Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, the show saw around 80 cars full of visitors attend.
You can find out more about the show itself in our podcast Are We Rolling? where we interviewed Pete Nicholson, one of the show’s organisers. We had a fascinating discussion about how the event came together, despite challenging circumstances.
About the flight
As qualified drone pilots, we were very careful to operate within the rules published by the CAA. This meant keeping our drone under 400ft altitude and flying no further than 500m away from the pilot. (As well as other restrictions.)
We also had to be careful with flying our drone within proximity of the audience, although the social distancing measures put in place by the organisers made this a breeze. This gave us plenty of flexibility for capturing high quality, exciting aerial video and photos from a variety of angles.
Reception
Our aerial footage from this event has been used by Sound Level Events to promote other events on social media, with much acclaim. The Southern Daily Echo also used one of our photos for their story about the event. (Our photo was supplied by the organisers.)
