Association for Breastfeeding Mothers Conference – Live Stream

In collaboration with Destiny Events, we had the privilege of providing video production, live streaming and A/V services at the Association for Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) conference at Queen Mary University of London.

Our main responsibility at this event was to provide a live stream of the event for people who couldn’t be there in person. This involved supplying cameras, vision mixing equipment, audio gear and of course the staff to operate it all. The video you see above is a short excerpt from the event.

A camera operator, wearing headphones and a "Southpoint Films" shirt, films an empty stage set for a presentation. The stage has a podium with a microphone, a computer, a small white table, and two chairs. A large green presentation slide on the screen reads "ABM - Association of Breastfeeding Mothers" with the presenter's name, Eleanor Campbell, and event hashtag #ABMConf24. The room appears to be prepared for a live or recorded event.

On the day, we provided:

  • Two cameras with operators
  • A remote-controlled PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera
  • Video switching and audio mixing for the live stream
  • VT (pre-recorded video) and Graphics playback
  • Live dial-ins for two remote presenters via Zoom for a two-way link
  • Presentation management for both the live stream and the venue’s projector (with clicker)
  • Wireless lapel and handheld mics
  • Plus a PA system for audio amplification in the room

Prior to the event, we also worked closely with the organisers to prepare graphics and videos for use during the conference. This included creating several “golden ticket” winner graphics for the ABM awards, as well as facilitating and editing the recording of two presentations from the presenters who couldn’t be there in person.

A control booth overlooking a conference or lecture hall. Several screens display video feeds and presentation slides, with control panels and laptops arranged on the desk. The main presentation on the large screen at the front of the room shows a slide titled "What is the opportunity?" with a graph and text. Attendees are seated, and some are using laptops. The setup suggests this is a live event being managed or streamed.

For this event, we were also involved with crafting the experience for the online viewers. In this instance, we live streamed through Vimeo and provided Slido for facilitating audience participation. Post-event,we provided video hosting through our Vimeo account for viewers to watch the sessions “on demand”.

Overall, we were delighted to provide a comprehensive video production, live streaming and A/V package for this event. It was a resounding success, both for in-person attendees and the online audience.
