We were proud to once again be supporting emerging filmmakers by sponsoring the Student Factual Awards at the Royal Television Society’s Southern Awards 2025, held at the Utilita Bowl Hilton Hotel.

At Southpoint Films, we’re passionate about nurturing new talent and celebrating the creativity, dedication, and hard work that goes into factual storytelling. Documentary filmmaking requires a unique skill set, crafting compelling narratives, working with real people, and presenting engaging stories. All of which are highly transferable to the commercial video production work we do every day.

This year, our Managing Director, Rowan Johnson, once again had the privilege of serving on the judging panel, helping to select the most outstanding entries in the short-form and long-form student factual categories. Congratulations to the University for the Creative Arts for their winning short-form film, Tales of Exile, and to Bournemouth University for their long-form winner, Perspective: ADHD. The talent, dedication, and originality displayed by all the entries was truly inspiring, a huge well done to all of this year’s nominees!

We’d love to connect with any aspiring filmmakers looking to break into the industry, so why not get in touch!
