University of Southampton – Wellington Lecture Event Recording
We were invited by the University of Southampton to film the 35th annual Wellington Lecture, hosted at the Turner Sims music venue on their Highfield campus.
Instead of simply turning up with a couple of cameras and pressing record, we set up a high-quality, multi-camera production using two strategically positioned PTZ cameras and a Canon C400, all controlled by a single skilled operator. This approach allowed us to capture the event seamlessly and efficiently, without the need for a large crew.
Using a live video switcher, we mixed footage in real time, integrating presentation slides and coordinating camera angles on the fly via multiview. The result was a professional, polished recording with a much faster turnaround time.
And while this event was recorded, our setup was just one Ethernet cable away from being ready for live streaming, opening the door for the university to broadcast it in the future!
