University of Southampton – Path To Uni Podcast
Earlier this year, we worked with the University of Southampton to produce their new video podcast series, “Path to Uni”. The project was filmed on-site at Highfield Campus, where a multipurpose studio space was transformed into a professional podcast set.
The concept behind the series is straightforward but effective. Students lead the conversation, interviewing university staff about the topics that matter most to prospective and current students. By using questions submitted by the student body, the university is able to address key concerns regarding accommodation, lectures, and campus life in an authentic, relatable format.
A Comprehensive Production Solution
Our team provided full production services for this project – from cameras, to lighting, to audio. This allowed our client, the university, to focus entirely on the content of the discussions.
We deployed a three camera setup to capture every angle of the conversation. These cameras fed into a live multiview system, allowing our team and the client to see all three angles simultaneously during the recording. This allowed the team to spot any issues on the day, such as wardrobe and set design, which would have otherwise been missed.
We also provided four professional podcast microphones and a dedicated audio engineer to manage the live mix. This helped to speed up post-production, avoiding time-consuming manual audio mixing.
Purpose-Built Deliverables
To help the University of Southampton reach their audience across multiple platforms, we provided a suite of tailored assets:
-
Full Video Episodes: High-quality 4K and 1080p versions for YouTube and web.
-
Audio-Only Files: MP3 exports for distribution on major podcasting platforms.
-
Social Media Excerpts: Short, high-impact clips in both portrait and landscape formats designed for quick consumption on social feeds.
-
Branded Elements: Custom intros and outros to ensure consistent brand identity throughout the series.
We’re grateful to the team at the university for choosing us to help them share these important student stories. The project is a fantastic example of how video podcasts can be used to connect an institution and its community through transparent, expert-led dialogue.
