LSE – LSE Navigate Live Stream

In August, we collaborated with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to produce a high-impact live stream for their “Navigate” initiative. This project was bridged the gap between A-level results day and the start of term for students engaged with LSE’s Widening Participation programme.

The goal was clear: foster a sense of belonging, demystify the move to London, and connect students with underutilised university resources before they even set foot on campus.

A Hybrid Production Approach

Delivering this 90-minute broadcast (excerpted above) required a sophisticated, two-stage production process. To ensure the content was both polished and informative, we began in July by filming a series of pre-recorded segments (VTs). These focused on the “nuts and bolts” of student life—budgeting, careers, and accommodation—and featured interviews with key university staff.

For the live event on August 28th, we streamed these pre-records as tight, 30 minute package, which led seamlessly into a live Q&A panel discussion. This segment was led by LSE’s Widening Participation lead Frances and three student ambassadors, providing incoming students with real-time, interactive insights into the LSE experience.

Four people sit in a professional studio setting for an interview, with two cameras on tripods and several large studio lights positioned around them. A person in a blue chair holds a tablet while facing three individuals seated on a grey sofa against a backdrop of large windows.

Technical Execution

For the live panel discussion, we transformed one of the study spaces at LSE into a professional broadcast studio. Our technical solution included:

  • Multi-Platform Streaming: To maximise accessibility, we streamed simultaneously to Zoom and Vimeo.

  • 3-Camera PTZ Setup: We utilised remote-controlled Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras. This allowed us to maintain a low physical profile in the room while achieving professional, multi-angle coverage of the panelists.

  • Host Support: To keep the energy welcoming and the timing precise, we provided a teleprompter for opening remarks and an iPad for the host to monitor live audience questions.

The Result

The LSE Navigate live stream successfully delivered a comforting and welcoming digital front door to the university. By combining pre-produced educational content with the authenticity of a live student panel, we helped LSE deliver a professional, branded experience that set a new standard for their digital student engagement.
