STEM Learning Protecting Our Planet Day – Live Stream
STEM Learning’s Protecting Our Planet Day 2022 has got to be one of the most ambitious live streams we’ve ever produced.
The event featured two elements. An educational live stream for secondary schools, and a pre-recorded educational program for primary schools. Both were distributed nationwide for teachers and their classes to tune into.
The half of the project for secondary schools was produced live from the Boaty McBoatface hangar at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton. It was hosted by Dr Suzie Imber and TV’s Dallas Campbell. Throughout the day, Suzie and Dallas linked up with amazing people from all over the world who had a strong link with one of four topics – Oceans, Ice, Forests and Earth.
One of our highlights of this event was a live linkup with the captain of the RRS Sir David Attenborough, a large research vessel. At the time of the event, the ship was working at sea in middle of the Atlantic ocean. This was followed by a similarly challenging live link with two researchers stationed in Antarctica.
We also had live links with the producers of BBC Studios’ Frozen Planet II, a researcher at COP27 in Egypt, and researchers in rainforests around the world. Incredible!
As you probably gathered, it was an extremely ambitious and exciting event – which went incredibly smoothly!
In addition to the live stream, we also recorded and edited a full morning of parallel sessions for primary school students, which was broadcast simultaneously by the National STEM Centre in York.
It was such a proud moment for us to see all of the positive tweets and photos coming in from schools watching the broadcast and taking part in activities. In terms of pure scope and ambition, this definitely had to be the wildest project we worked on in 2022…and we loved every minute of it!
Are you ready to take your live streams to the next level? Let’s make it happen together!
