We Sponsored the Student Factual Award at the RTS 2024 Awards!

We had the pleasure of attending the Royal Television Society’s 2024 Southern Awards. Hosted at the Hilton Hotel at Utilita Bowl in Southampton. Filled with industry professionals and rising talent, the event showcased the best of the region’s television and video production talent. At Southpoint Films, we believe in the importance of nurturing new talent in the industry. That’s why we were proud to sponsor the Student Factual Award, a category that recognises the hard work, creativity, and dedication of young filmmakers exploring real-world stories through documentary filmmaking. Our Managing Director, Rowan Johnson, was part of the judging panel who selected the winner and runners up in this category.

We believe that the skills developed in documentary filmmaking, such as crafting compelling narratives, working with real people, and presenting stories in an engaging way, are highly transferable to the commercial video production projects that we take on. That’s why we were excited to support and celebrate emerging talent, helping to champion the next generation of industry professionals.

The awards night itself was a fantastic celebration of creativity in the industry. It was inspiring to see the wealth of talent on display, and we want to extend a huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners. The quality of work being produced by students and emerging filmmakers is outstanding, and it’s exciting to think about the future of the industry with such passionate individuals leading the way. We can’t wait to see what these talented filmmakers go on to achieve.
